Bronco Well Meteorological Station (No. 45)

Description: 

Bronco Well Meteorological Station (No. 45) is located on the west side of the Sevilleta, near the north boundary of the refuge and about halfway between the Rio Grande and the western boundary of the refuge. Area is generally Colorado Plateau grassland.

Location
Near north boundary of Sevilleta. About 4 mi west from the AT&T on the road to Red Tank. Just past the 2nd set of power transmission lines is a windmill. The met station is located about 100 m to the south of this well
Vegetation
Mostly grass community dominated by Scleropogon brevifolius.
Hydrology
Surface water present only during rainfall events (particularly summer thunderstorms).
History
Adjacent to an old and still functioning windmill. Area was badly disturbed during the ranch days and recovery is limited.
