Prairie rattlesnake  Crotalus viridis.  This female prairie rattlesnake was found at 2058 hours between Bronco Well and ATT.  It measured 54 cm (SVL) and 85 cm (TL).  The air temp was 28.6C and ground temp was 24C. Photo taken June 23, 2003.

Coachwhip

Coachwhip
Coachwhip  Masticophis flagellum.  This female coachwhip was found at 1100 hours and measured 123 cm (TL) and 94 cm (SVL).  This was a cloudy morning and sunny afternoon.  These snakes can come in a few shades and the belly is often a pinkish color.  They have an interesting behavior that would lead one to believe they might attack you but that is the way they keep you away.  Photo taken May 2003.

Ringneck snake  Diadophis punctatus.  This very large female ringneck was found at 900 hours just south of the windmill near Nunn Flats.  She measured 39.55 cm (SVL) and 46.5 cm (TL).  Notice this snake does not have a ringneck, in which it has been named for.  If this is not present, another way to tell is by the brilliant coloration on the venter.  Notice the orange to red toward the tail.  Photo taken May 15, 2003.
