Spatial complexity is both the hallmark of nature and one of
the greatest obstacles to ecological prediction. Research in our
laboratory is largely focused on the application of fractal geometry
and related techniques such as renormalization group theory to increase our ability to predict ecological
dynamics in spatially complex landscapes. We test predictions of
related theories, such as percolation theory, and develop new
approaches to understand the complexity of nature.
