What is hydrogeoecology? Hydrogeoecology is an interdisciplinary affiliation of scientists from the Departments of Biology and Earth and Planetary Sciences at the University of New Mexico. The theme of hydrogeoecology emphasizes the interface between aquatic and riparian ecology, hydrology, geochemistry, and geomorphology. Graduate education in this interdisciplinary program draws upon class work and field studies where hydrology, geochemistry, and ecology interact. Major ongoing studies focus on the ground water/surface water interface and the Rio Grande bosque.
